Glamox prepares for the future with Infor LN and Mazeppa

The Glamox Group is implementing a new Business System to achieve their ambitious growth plans. Mazeppa Consulting is the software and service provider – a cooperation which will push the Glamox Company Group to new heights.

To meet the future, Glamox will be merging mother and subsidiary companies in 16 countries into the ERP-system Infor LN. The project has fittingly been named “One Glamox” internally and is set to provide the best possible platform to meet future potential opportunities.

Glamox Group CFO Thomas Lindberg has named synergy, efficiency and not least the possibility of simplifying interactions as some of the key aspects as to why he has advocated internally for “One Glamox”. With Mazeppa as a service provider, already working on the implementation of the new system, Lindberg is confident that Glamox will in the coming years benefit greatly from their investment.

High ambitions

“We operate in an area where quick and easy management of information internally, and between us and our clients, is extremely important. Collaboration with Glamox should be regarded as easy at all levels. An optimal well-functioning IT-solution is therefore essential for our company”, says Lindberg.

Glamox is in a period of growth and Infor LN is a key tool in reaching their ambitious growth plans. Lindberg explains, “It will provide us with much wider possibilities and allow us to achieve our ambitious growth plans. An ERP-system that the entire Group can use across countries and subsidiary companies will have the journey towards reaching our goals that much easier,” says Lindberg.

Glamox is a leading supplier of lighting and offers complete solutions for large institutions. In recent years Glamox has acquired several companies. Today the group consists of 30 units with 1300 employees located in 16 countries.

One Glamox – innovating the workflow

“We didn’t have to go back to the very basics as we started the work with implementing ‘One Glamox’,” says Lindberg. “We already had an IT-system which we called ‘One System’ internally. It was, and still is, used in different ways by the different units. For instance, we do not have a mutual basic data register, something which can complicate the process with regards to cooperation. We have had the same solution for approximately 20 years and it has worked well. Even so we recognized the need to upgrade and meet the future,” says Linedberg who hopes the new solution will be implemented by end 2020.

Lindberg adds that they expect substantial growth the next 20 years. “Up until now we have been thinking ‘One System’.  Now we’re thinking ‘One Glamox’ where all our employees will use the new solution, and where all operations are done the same way. It will not matter where you work, or what you are working on. When ‘One Glamox’ is up and running throughout the entire organization, we expect that the work processes will be streamlined across the entire Group,” Lindberg explains.

Comprehensive process with great rewards

Lindberg does not deny that implementation is a comprehensive process. He explains, “It demands enormous effort and willingness to change from all employees. In addition to their own daily tasks they have to learn something completely new at the same time.”  He has therefore focused on management recognizing that the newly acquired solution could instigate some challenges. However; Lindberg has been clear that there is no going back.  “’ One Glamox’ will be implemented, and we want everyone on board to contribute,” says Lindberg.

“We took our time to plan in advance and we used resources within our own organization to contribute to the project. In Glamox we were clear on what is needed and what needs to be improved, and as such we didn’t see the need to use consultants for this part of the project.“ Lindberg continues, “We own the process and have made suggestions to suit our needs. We have asked Mazeppa to adapt the solutions to meet our needs, something which has worked out really well. Mazeppa have been readily available and have understood what is important for our company,” he says.

Managing director in Mazeppa, Aage Ramstad, says that the way Glamox has been involved has been crucial for a smooth implementation so far.

“Such an extensive process can be very difficult for a company. It is demanding to implement ERP-systems, and the key to success is that the client takes full command and ownership of all tasks and processes. This is something Glamox has done from day one.  We are set to achieve our ambitious goals together,” says Aage Ramstad.
